Abstract:
Open-pit mining operations impact on environment such as: occupy a large area of land, changing terrain regional geomorphology, emitting dust and hazadous gases into the environment, etc. In order to assess the current status and the level of environmental pollution, in addition to using traditional environmental monitoring methods, we also use forescasting models to forescast the level of environmental pollution in open-pit mine. One of models is Gauss model. In this paper, the authors use the Gauss model combind with ENVIMAP2010 software to forescast the level of dust and air pollution in Thanh Tam placer titanium in Quang Tri province, Vietnam. The results from models are show that the concentration of pollutants and effect distance of each zone are within the allowable limits and do not affect the residential area around the mine. Besides, the models also show the concentration of pollutant in the mine field in order to take measures to minimize the impact on the workers in the mine field.
