Abstract:

In this paper, some results of the researches on rotary drilling technology are presented for enhancing the rate of penetration (ROP) in horizontal drilling. One of reasons for low ROP as well as the unsatisfied length and quality of borehole is the loss of weight on bit as drilling interval increases. It can result from several issues, such as the increasing in weight of drilling string, friction and torque during drilling operation. When the increasing in rotary speed of drilling string (approximately 300 round/minute) in conjunction with the addition of source of percusion energy (nđ = 800 ÷ 1600 times/minute) occurs, the loss of weight on bit declines from 1,8 to 2 times for 300-500-meter-long holes.
