Abstract:

Recently, research on the behavior of underground support structures under seismic loading has primarily focused on circular and rectangular tunnels. Recently, the sub-rectangular cross-section tunnel has been introduced and applied as an effective solution to overcome the drawbacks of above mentioned shapes. Under seismic loads, the behavior of sub-rectangular tunnels differs significantly from that of circular and rectangular ones. Recent studies have mainly focused on the behavior of segmental linings in sub-rectangular tunnels under static loading, or on continuous linings under seismic loads. Therefore, investigating the internal forces in segmental linings of sub-rectangular tunnels under seismic loading, as well as study on the influence of soil and tunnel lining parameters is of great scientific and practical significance. This study aims to evaluate the influence of joint parameters (including the number, position, and characteristics of joints in the segmental lining), lining thickness, seismic acceleration and deformation modulus of ground on the seismic behavior of segmental linings in sub-rectangular tunnels.
