Abstract:

In core analysis, especially in dynamic experiments the interaction between phases of the rock-fluid system is the most important key affecting on the results. This phenomenon is represented by wettability. Therefore, sample restoration to original wettability must be conducted prior to any dynamic testing. In this paper, samples were restored by some kinds of fluids and then determined wettability. The oil moveable and residual oil saturation were measured for each type of sample with different RQI and wettability. The result shows that for water-wet rock, oil is easily displaced by water in the spontaneous imbibition process, but it is difficult to be displaced during forced displacement process, leading high residual oil saturation. For neutral-wet rock, it showed converse bêhavior as rêsidual oil saturation is quitê low. In this rêsêarch, wê didn’t crêatê oil-wet samples due to time and sample limitation. However, further investigation should be done on oil-wet of rock.
