Abstract:

Industrial level +155 MSL of Khe Cham II open pit coal mine lays on the surface of waste dump inside the mine. Due to located on coal seam floor with low shear intrinsic strength, the foot area of the waste dump is still in mining operations causing landslide. In rainy season, surface water runs through the bench face into pit bottom causing slide of waste dump and dangerous situation for the structures on this waste dump surface. Based on analyzing the natural, technical conditions and monitoring resutls of waste dump movement in many years, this paper presents some stabilizing solutions through dumping the waste dump by layers with suitable bench height, reinforced embankment of waste dump foot and slope, drainage solution, compacting. These solutions have been applied to stabilize the waste dump and also industrial level +155 MSL, structures on the surface of waste dump. The rerults showed that the proposed solutions created durable waste dump, reduce the annually costs for treating landslide at this waste dump.
